Tom Cruise wrecks a BMW M5 E28

BMW cars are a regular feature in the action scenes of the Mission Impossible franchise starring Tom Cruise. In his latest film, Mission Impossible: Fallout, a brand-new, next-generation BMW M5 makes an appearance, but its presence is limited to a few minutes of screen time, where it is controlled by remote control by Tom Cruise’s partner in the film, Benji, played by actor Simon Pegg.

But the star vehicle in the film Mission Impossible Fallout is a classic 1986 BMW M5 E28, which is the subject of some spectacular action and chase scenes through the streets of Paris. Presumably the fact that the BMW M5 was once the fastest sedan in the world has played a big part in its being chosen for these action scenes.
